Almost There

If the pictures aren't obvious enough, I'm almost there.  In a few days I'll be at 37 weeks - which is considered full term.  CRAZY!!!!  I'm feeling it now.  I've have some serious back pains and some high blood pressure but hopefully the doctor gives me a good report this Thursday.  Some people say the baby has dropped.  I don't think so.  To be honest, I think he's been low the entire time and I strongly doubt he can get any lower until the actual delivery but we'll see.  Jay is being sweet and putting up with my constant to do requests.  We are doing our best to wade through them and hopefully we'll have some more pictures to share in a few days.  The nursery is almost done and if we're lucky, we'll get the Christmas decorations up in the next week.  Now, if my back could just keep up I'd stand a chance of finishing!

Cross it off the list

We're in the home stretch.  It won't be long now.  It really could be any day and there is still so much to get done.  Amanda and I make lists.  That's just what we do.  I think the list of things we want to get done before the baby comes is a little too aggressive.  Don't get me wrong - sometimes it takes special circumstances to make yourself get to work.  We both love to cross things off the list and lately we've made some good headway.  Do I think we'll finish the list before the baby comes?  Not a chance.

I'd like to dedicate the remainder of this blog to my Auburn Tigers.  I couldn't have scripted the game to have a better finish.  It's been a great season and I'm finally allowing to ask myself, "national championship?"

Skills I did not inherit

I'm not good at ironing.  That is a fact.  My grandmother was excellent at it.  My mom and dad are both great at it.  I have to wonder why I did not inherit that gene.  I'm sure that it's not a big deal for 99.9% of the population.  I don't know that many people actually like doing it and the bulk of people I know send all of their ironing to the dry cleaners.  Normally, I would send my ironing to my mom (who is sweet enough to still do some if for me) or to the dry cleaners.  However, I'm working on a particular project that I don't feel comfortable sending out.

What project could this be and why would I not be comfortable sending it out?  Well, the short answer is I shouldn't be doing it.  What I'm doing is silly, pointless, and only for my own brief satisfaction.  I'm currently ironing the crib bedding.  Don't roll your eyes.  Okay, roll your eyes and call me crazy.  For one short minute I want to put the bedding on the crib, all clean and pressed, and say "That looks perfect."  I realize it will be short lived.  I realized that no rational person irons crib bedding.  I can almost promise you I won't do it again.  But I want that picture.  That snapshot in my memory of what the nursery looked like once upon a time.  Those snapshots get me through the times when my house is crazy and I realize that for the next few years my house will be crazy.  So for one brief moment, I want it to look the way I picture it in my mind.  Now, if I can only get these wrinkles out of the bedding before Jay comes home and catches me in the act.  It's hard enough looking at Lady who is clearly looking at me like I'm insane.  I don't need to get the same look and questions from my husband.

LOST

One pair of ankles.  Last seen on Friday morning.  If found, please contact me and I'll waddle over as fast as possible.  Will provide reward.

Couples Baby Shower

Our friends are the greatest.  We've been so spoiled throughout our pregnancy and it has made the entire experience unforgettable.  Last weekend the Crawfords, Calverts and Buices hosted a couples baby shower for us.  Jay was a little iffy about us having a couples shower (since he doesn't like to be the center of attention) but we had a great time.  It's always so much fun to get our Wheeler group of friends together.  The food was amazing, the decorations were beautiful, and apart from setting the Crawfords deck on fire, the night was a success!  (Thankfully, Beau was able to put out the fire before any real damage occurred.  But don't give him props.  He and Clint started the fire so they should have been the ones to put it out).  Below are some pictures that Mandy sent us.

33 Weeks and Counting

So far so good.  The baby is growing, moving, and making my belly stick out more than I ever imagined.  The doctor visits are going well and we are still on track for a Christmas delivery.  We have lots to do but every weekend we manage to cross more off the "Before the Baby Comes" to do list.  It would be classic if the baby comes early and we feel unprepared.  However, we hope the baby stays put for as long as he needs to arrive as healthy as possible.

As for my health, I'm okay.  I've never felt so large but I've been told that's the norm.  We've started walking at night after dinner.  It's good for all of us and we only do the mile.  I blame it on Lady's bum leg but really a mile is the perfect amount for me at the moment.  Hopefully we can continue to walk once the baby comes.  I think it would be good family time.  It's still crazy to me that family time will soon include a child.  Crazy, crazy, crazy...
